5 Ways to Make “ Me Time

We shouldn't bury our heads in the sand; life as a parent is difficult, especially right now. Parents are in greater demand than ever: homeschooling, illness, teleworking, confinement, etc. How can we cope and maintain good mental health? Part of the answer could be found in taking time for ourselves. Here are
a few tips from the little mosüs team to get there!

  1. Sleep

Going to bed earlier to catch up on the sleep you've missed is a good start. If you're too tired, it's hard to function properly. It's also proven that a lack of sleep can affect your mental and physical health. Therefore, it's important to go to bed at a reasonable time and get enough sleep. To give yourself time to indulge in your favorite hobbies, a good sleep routine is recommended!

  2. Make space in the calendar

Eliminating appointments that no longer work, or for which there's little or no interest, is a good way to free up time. Participating in an activity just to please others is rather detrimental to your mental health. Learn to say no! This is one of the solutions that allows you to gain time for yourself!

  3. Make an appointment

By freeing up space in your calendar, free time magically appears! Making an appointment with yourself becomes a reality. Write down your chosen hobby at a specific time in your calendar, and you'll increase your chances of doing the desired activity!

  4. Stop feeling guilty

As a parent, it can feel guilty to take time just for yourself when it could be spent playing with the kids, finishing a task at work, being with your partner, or cleaning. However, this time for yourself has a beneficial effect on the entire family. You'll notice that you're more relaxed, fulfilled, patient, and available to those around you afterward!

  5. Take action

It's all well and good to plan everything and rearrange your schedule, but you still have to take action and do what you're planning! A new routine may take a few days to settle into, but once it's established, it'll only bring benefits! You'll probably never want to go back!

Finding a balance between chores, children, work, your partner, and time for yourself can seem complex, but it's by taking small steps that you'll get there. Sometimes you have to know how to let go and, above all, not aim for perfection in the many spheres of daily life. That's the key!
